About 55 Bobonong residents are now computer literate thanks to Sesigo Project. For the current financial year, students enrolled for the project.
Bobonong senior library officer, Ms Betty Mazebedi said in an interview on July 9 that the project was started in 2011 with the aim of equipping the nation with information technology mainly teaching Batswana on how to use computers and availing free access of internet in libraries.
She said both the young and the old had embraced the project in the area saying each student was given an hour daily to learn. She said they had eight computers and three of those were used for learning where the library assistants helped the learners.
Even though the project was doing well in their library, she said they were facing challenges such as shortage of computers and that their library was too small. One of Sesigo Project beneficiaries, Mr Moffat Mothudi said he had learnt a lot and was able to use the computer.
Mr Mothudi teamed up with Bobonong library to teach other students about the importance of the project through kgotla, Village Development Committee and Ipelegeng meetings. ENDS
