Lers Electrical helps Mothaping

Mr Lesotegile Mothaping’s pre-Christmas gift is one that he will cherish for eternity, and what better time to receive it than when President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama is about to exit the high office.
Although he did not have to rip open the gift, the expression on his face said it all as he told everybody that “I will forever be grateful.”
The 83-year-old widowed father of four was last Wednesday handed a furnished five-roomed house in Sehunou donated by Lers Electrical through the Presidential Housing Appeal.
The building is a modern face-brick house with a lounge, kitchen, two bedrooms and a bathroom.
Handing over the house, Central District district commissioner, Ms Berenice Berman-Mosime said Lers Electrical’s timing was perfect since Christmas was a time to give.
She said Mr Mothaping had all the reason to celebrate this festive season because his family would now have a place to call home, and where family and friends could gather.
Ms Berman-Mosime said a proper home not only restored one’s dignity, but also protected them from bad weather conditions and criminals.
Lers Electrical representative, Mr Opelo Keatlholetswe said when the idea was born, it was not just about building a house, but one that would be the envy of many.
The company’s association with the village, he said, started when government engaged them to build a primary school and teachers’ accommodation under the backlog eradication programme. He said it was then that a plan was hatched to give back to the community.
He said the house cost P400 000 inclusive of furniture, grocery and fencing.
Kgosi Madala Gabagopolwe said the house was a rare find in Sehunou and neighbouring villages, adding that it improved the landscape of the village.Ends
