20 Dec 2017

Assistant Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila has officially opened Chicken Plus Restaurant in Mmadinare this week.
The restaurant, which is the first of its kind in Mmadinare, specialises in grilled and fried chicken, braai meals, traditional foods, wors and Russians as well as Pizza’s and Burgers.

Officially opening the restaurant which is owned by Mr Uday Katreddy and Mr Moses Dondaparthi, Mr Mzwinila, who is also Member of Parliament for Mmadinare, commended the businessmen for choosing to setup the restaurant in Mmadinare.

He noted that the business had created 18 jobs for locals in the village, especially the youth, saying it was a welcome gesture especially during this time when there was shortage of employment among the youth. He added that the restaurant gave Mmadinare a facelift.
He also called on locals to utilise the restaurant and support the business in order to keep it running. He also called on government organisations in the region to support the business by purchasing food from it when holding events.

Mr Mzwinila noted that the opening of the restaurant came along with the setting up of a First National Bank (FNB) Automated Teller Machine (ATM), saying it was also a welcome gesture.
He commended FNB for placing the ATM in the village, adding that the move was appropriate as residents would no longer have to travel to Selebi Phikwe to get cash as it had been the case.

He noted that residents would now have the opportunity to check their bank statements and withdraw cash in Mmadinare without having to pay transport fees to travel to Selebi Phikwe.
He said FNB should consider setting up a mobile office or service office in Mmadinare to render other banking services to residents, especially the elderly who had to travel to Selebi Phikwe to get such services.

He noted that in his constituency there were about 40 000 people as stated in the 2011 population census. He added that  Mmadinare alone had a population of roughly 13 000 people.
In this regard, he requested FNB to consider setting up another ATM in his constituency, especially Sefhophe, so that there could be at least two ATM’s that would assist residents avoid situations where they had to travel to Palapye or Selebi Phikwe to get cash. ENDS
