Kgosi Morota Tiro II of Mabule has applauded Young Africa Botswana for coaching the youth and people living with disabilities on life and entrepreneurial skills.
Speaking at the opening of the workshop recently, which attracted about 150 youth from different villages in ther Good Hope-Mabule Sub-district, Kgosi Tiro advised the youth to use the opportunity to develop themselves.
Kgosi Tiro said they were fortunate that Young Africa had chosen them as part of their project of empowering the youth.
He applauded the youth in the district for attending the workshop in large numbers, saying it showed that they had goals they wanted to achieve in life.
He said he was convinced that indeed there was hope for the future of the district and the country at large.
He further advised them to take note of the skills they had acquired and pleaded with them to share with those who could not make it to the workshop.
When motivating the youth, Good Hope Sub-district chairperson, Ms Maobene Molefe applauded Young Africa for giving the youth direction in life.
She also encouraged the youth living with disabilities to showcase their talent and noted that by showing up it showed that they knew that disability was not inability. She urged the youth not to waste the skills they had acquired. “Develop those skills and please take note of everything you are taught,” she said.
Outlining what Youth Africa Botswana was, the national director, Ms Jelena Mitrovic said their aim was to empower young people in Botswana.
She explained that she realised that some of the youth were already skilled, therefore they were unleashing the hidden talents.
She said with so much creativity, they needed to be encouraged to use it. She said they were offering free training on life skills, self-employment, entrepreneurial skills and many more.
The youth had a talent show, where those who could dance and sing showcased their talents.
One of the youth who attended the training, Mr Kebonyemodisa Mangana from Sekhutlane said when he came to the workshop, he never thought that being a Disk Jockey could be a business.
He said the training had made it easy for him that he now has a business idea that he could grow. BOPA
