IDDC caravans not in good condition
10 Jul 2013
The Ministry of Health is aware that caravans at Mathangwane and Marapong, which are used as Infectious Disease Control Clinic Centres (IDDCs) are not in good condition.
Answering a question in Parliament on Tuesday, the Assistant Minister of Health, Mr Gaotlhaetse Matlhabaphiri said Francistown District Health Management Team (DHMT) was in the process of repairing the Mathangwane caravan whose work would be completed before end of July.
He explained that his ministry had planned to construct IDDCs in Marapong during the current financial year. However, this had not been possible hence a caravan for Marapong clinic would be procured during the current financial year.
Apart from the two caravans not being in good condition, Mr Matlhabaphiri explained that quality service had not been compromised.
MP for Tonota North, Mr Fidelis Molao had asked the minister when the caravans used as IDDCs at Mathangwane and Marapong clinics will be replaced with serviceable ones; and whether the current status of the two caravans does not compromise quality services at these facilities. ENDS
