Khama grateful

17 Dec 2017

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama says he is humbled that most people who bid him farewell have expressed satisfaction about his leadership style.

The president was addressing people of Kgalagadi South  at Tsabong main kgotla on December 16 during one his country-wide farewell meetings before he steps down.

This came after all the speakers showered him with words of praise when bidding him farewell.

He pointed out that when he first visited the constituency, it was not in good shape as it lacked basic amenities such as water and roads, but now that was a thing of the past, which he said made him happy.

President Khama said although most of the necessities had been availed, he was aware that Tsabong Primary Hospital needed an upgrade and it was for that reason that a budget of P2 million was availed to maintain it.

He said starting 2019, P200 million would be used to upgrade the hospital in a period of three years, saying, it was a present and the legacy he would have left for the constituency.

President Khama said as Vice President Mokgweetsi Masisi would be taking the baton from him, he was sure that he would deliver as per expectations.

Residents gave him 35 goats and 21 cows as a token of appreciation.

For his part, area MP, Mr Frans Van der Westhuizen said the community was grateful for countless transformational initiatives the president brought with him, particularly in the arts and culture as well as education.

He said the President would leave behind a legacy in the region as people were now enjoying education, water and the national recognition of polka dance.

Mr Van der Westhuizen said there were about 700 beneficiaries under the poverty eradication programme.

Mr Lucky Sephiri, a person living with disability, praised the President on behalf of KGALABORWA for ensuring that association was recognised. BOPA
