Ministry of health restructuring

13 Dec 2017

Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele has told Parliament that it was undergoing a restructuring to make headquarters leaner and more efficient, while decentralising administrative authority to the District Health Management Teams (DHMTs) to improve accountability and quality assurance in service delivery.

Answering a question in Parliament on December 12, Mr  Makgalemela said services were constantly  monitored and reviewed to ensure a trajectory towards positive impact.

However, the assistant minister said his ministry was not considering a comprehensive review on how the transfer of the District Health Teams to the Ministry of Health and Wellness from Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development had impacted service delivery.

Member of Parliament for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Salakae had asked if the minister would consider doing a comprehensive review engaging all stakeholders on how the transfer of District Health Management Teams from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development had impacted service delivery since 2010.
