Thirty undeveloped plots part of Gaborone city land bank
13 Dec 2017
Gaborone City Council (GCC) has about 30 undeveloped plots which form part of the city’s land bank for future land requirements.
City clerk, Mr Mpho Mathe said this when responding to a question during a full council session on December 11.
He said the city council has also been allocated 471 recreation open spaces of which 348 plots had already been issued with title deeds.
“Open spaces are primarily used for both current, future, passive and active recreational needs of the neighbourhoods,” he added.
Mr Mathe said it was important to note that open spaces could be used as breathers for the city and also serve as ecological banks for the fauna and flora for future generations.
Councillor for Marang/Tsholofelo East, Mr Meshack Kebeileng had asked the city clerk to state how many plots were not developed in the city.
Mr Mathe said when the council issued a permit to a building owner, such a permit would remain in force as long as the construction commenced within the validity of the permit.
Mr Kebeileng had asked who stopped the construction of a wall in Extension 68 between Tapologo and Motswedi Junior School and why. ENDS
