Declare items sent through postal system

BotswanaPost says as the festive season approaches, their post offices are experiencing high volumes of parcels sent out and coming in the country through the postal system.
A press release from BotswanaPost says this is so much expected as their customers exchange gifts with families and friends.
Furthermore, the release states that as BotswanaPost, they advise their customers to declare properly the items they are sending out, as they have been experiencing a lot of items being detained because customers have sent prohibited and restricted items.
This, the release says has in turn frustrated their customers, as it causes delays on delivery and sometimes the postal administrators detaining the parcels without returning them back to Botswana in time.
According to the release, the prohibited parcel items that have recently found its way through the post office and end up being detained included; liquids, body and hair sprays, colognes, body lotions, shoe sprays and beverages (wines).
Once these items are found in the parcel, the whole package will be detained, adds the release.
It further states that the list of the restricted and prohibited items are any liquids, including alcohol beverages (beer, wine, spirits), collectable coins, bank notes, bank drafts or security of any kind payable to bearer, traveller’s cheques, platinum, silver, gold, precious stones, jewellery, narcotics, explosives, flammable or any other dangerous substances.
Also, the release says firearms, weaponry and parts of ammunition, all lithium batteries, obscene or immoral articles, live animals, bees, leeches and silkworms and the articles of which the importation and circulation are prohibited in the country of destination are also prohibited. ENDS
