Kgathi explains judges appointment
07 Dec 2017
Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi has told Parliament that Justices John Mosojane and Mpaphi Phumaphi were considered along with others for appointment to the Court of Appeal when vacancies arose in the past.
Responding to a question in Parliament on Wednesday from Member of Parliament for Francistown East, Mr Buti Billy, Mr Kgathi said other qualified personnel were found to be more suited for appointment.
He further clarified that all details relating to the appointment or non-appointment of individual Judges were kept confidential to respect the privacy of the individuals involved and the integrity of the Administration of Justice.
The MP had wanted to know why retired Justices Mosojane and Phumaphi were not appointed to the Court of Appeal upon retirement from the High Court. BOPA
