Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development assistant minister, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila says the total estimated cost for the Ghanzi stadium project is estimated at P8.8 million.
Responding to a question in Parliament on Wednesday, Mr Mzwinila said work had already started at the Ghanzi stadium with the completion of debushing as the first milestone.
He said funding for the project was sourced from constituency funding and OlympiAfrica through the Ghanzi District Council and Botswana National Olympic Committee for Phase One, which entails construction of the perimeter wall and utilities connections to the plot.
He further explained that Phase Two would comprise two multipurpose outdoor courts, compacted football pitch, athletics track and foyer building which included ablution blocks for the teams and the public.
However, he said the foyer building was expected to begin under Phase One but would be completed during Phase Two of the project.
Ghanzi North MP, Mr Noah Salakae had asked for an update on the current status of the promised mini stadium project at Ghanzi Township. BOPA
