Khama awards prizes

President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama, who is also the patron of Lady Khama Charitable Trust, awarded medals and vouchers to various individuals and mixed teams who participated in this year’s Lady Khama Super Sprint Triathlon.
The newly introduced event, which attracted over 170 participants was held at the University of Botswana Swimming Complex.
The Lady Khama super sprint triathlon 2017 ‘Rise and Tri”, sponsored by Spar Tsetseng, is a multi-disciplined sporting event in which it consists of a 400m Swim, 10km bike ride, 2.5km run with the fastest time becoming the winning time.
The event was aimed at raising funds for the less privileged members of the society. The chairperson of Lady Khama Charitable Trust, Dale Ter Haar, said in an interview that the event went well with a good turn up of competitors. He said this year’s event saw the number of participants doubling up.
Meanwhile, winners of the triathlon were awarded vouchers courtesy of Spar. The event was divided into three categories being the mixed youth teams, individuals, and open men and female.
The winner for the individual female youth went to Maryna Kamfer with a time of 42:08.9, seconded by Lotte Taylor with a score time of 45:56.5.
The individual male category first prize went to Jan Handrick De-Burn with a scoring time of 39:24:2. The Lady Khama Charitable Trust, which was established in 2002, continues Lady Khama’s legacy by raising funds and making annual donations to core beneficiaries. Ends
