Khama visits Phikwe six times

Assistant Minister for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration, Mr Thato Kwerepe has told Parliament that President Lt Gen. Dr Seretse Khama Ian Khama has so far visited Selebi Phikwe six times.
Answering a question in Parliament, Mr Kwerepe said the President, Vice President and ministers had addressed kgotla meetings for the Selebi Phikwe community including addressing Town Council.
He said the purposes of those meetings were to share government policies, programmes and projects including new laws and legislation amongst others.
He noted that he was aware of the residents desires to meet the President regarding the closure of the BCL mine, and the President had assigned his vice and ministers to consult employees and the community at large.
He said President Khama had made arrangements to address farewell kgotla meetings across the country before he retires and Selebi Phikwe would be one of them.
MP for Selebi Phikwe West, Mr Dithapelo Keorapetse had asked the minister to state the number of times President Khama , Vice President and ministers had addressed kgotla meetings in the Selebi Phikwe West Constituency since November 2009.
He also asked the minister if he was aware of the request of residents to meet the President in a public meeting regarding the closure of BCL mine. BOPA
