No major problems in processes

30 Nov 2017

There are no severe problems and challenges caused by processes regarding the application and issuing of Identity Card (Omang).

This was said by the Minister of Nationality, Immigration and Gender Affairs, Mr Edwin Batshu, when responding to a question in Parliament from Francistown East MP, Mr Buti Billy.

However, Mr Batshu said the ministry was experiencing some delays ‘only where applicants are not able to provide all the required supporting information or documents, especially for those people who have to normalise their citizenship of Botswana.’

Such cases, he said were dealt with on a case by case depending on the circumstances of each application.

Mr Billy had wanted to know if Mr Batshu was aware of the severe problems and challenges caused by processes one had to go through to have an Identity Card.

Francistown East MP also wanted the minister to state immediate action that would be undertaken to remedy the situation. ENDS
