Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Kitso Mokaila says his ministry has no plans to construct additional road along the old Francistown, Tonota and Gaborone road (A1 road).

Mr Mokaila said when responding to a question in Parliament that an approximately 30 kilometres dual carriageway between Francistown and Tonota was completed in September last year with the purpose to ease traffic congestion.

He said his ministry cannot construct an additional parallel road to serve the same purpose adding that it will not be financially prudent given that they operate on a constrained budget to construct and carry out maintenance on the Public Highways Networks.

MP for Francistown East Mr Buti Billy had asked the minister on the progress made so far in considering the construction on an additional road along the old Francistown, Tonota and Gaborone road. BOPA
