BOCAIP provides support care for orphans vulnerable children

Senior Superintendent Ruben Mphoeng of Kanye police has commended the Botswana Christian Aids Intervention Programme (BOCAIP) for being benevolent to orphans and vulnerable children.
Speaking during BOCAIP wellness day and donations to Kgodisong Day Care Centre in Kanye recently Senior Superintendent Mphoeng said BOCAIP mandate was to fight HIV/AIDS scourge through prayers.
He said it was also to assist in the issues of abstinence and faithfulness in marriage, saying it emphasised on good social values premised on the Bible.
Senior Superintendent Mphoeng said the Bible tells people to share generously with those in need and good things would come to them in turn.
He said BOCAIP endeavours were aligned to the Botswana National Strategic Frame Work on HIV/AIDS and applauded BOCAIP for coming up with good initiatives which work hand in hand with the government.
Meanwhile, chief executive officer of BOCAIP, Ms Lerato Mphusu said HIV prevention was still a serious challenge to individuals, families, societies and the government as they still notice infections particularly among young people and females.
She said the church was expected to play a leadership role in the fight against HIV because it had more authority to direct the nation towards healthy living and achievement of good moral behavior.
Ms Mphusu explained that HIV/AIDS had changed the tradition set up of the Setswana culture as it compelled discussion of sexuality, abortion and homosexuality issues that were considered to be taboo.
“I urge the church to unite in raising prayers to the Almighty with one voice for God to heal Botswana.
Ms Mphusu said people needed to change behaviour and turn to God in order to fight HIV/AIDS. She further said churches and BOCAIP were working with the police to pray against crime and accidents in Botswana. BOPA
