Police station gets P65m
23 Nov 2017
Construction of Sebina Police Station and 30 houses has been allocated P65 million and is scheduled to commence during the financial year 2019/2020, according to the NDP 11.
That was said by Minister of Defence, Justice and Security, Mr Shaw Kgathi, when responding to a question in Parliament from Nata-Gweta MP, Mr Polson Majaga.
Mr Kgathi stated that there was no Police Station planned for Marapong, except staff housing units scheduled for 2019/2020.
The projects, Mr Kgathi said were related and construction would commence during the same financial year, ‘because of the long standing relationship of these two projects their financing is intertwined.’
When complete, he said each would comprise of a Police Station and 20 staff housing units, adding that the construction of the Police Office block for Marapong would be planned for NDP 12.
Mr Majaga had asked Mr Kgathi when the long awaited Sebina and Marapong Police Stations would be constructed and whether it would be implemented as one project or in phases and to state the reasons.
Nata-Gweta MP also wanted to know why the project had not been implemented to date despite the promise made to the two communities of Sebina and Marapong by the then President. ENDS
