Shoshong youth appeal to councillors

Shoshong Youth Business Council (SYBC) has pleaded with Mahalapye Sub-district councillors for support.
Briefing the on-going sub-council meeting, vice president of SYBC, Mr Keeme Kanokang said as young entrepreneurs, they could only survive and grow if they had the support of leaders within their jurisdiction.
Mr Kanokang explained that SYBC was dedicated to facilitate an enabling environment for the development and prosperity of young business people through research, networking and advocacy.
He noted that SYBC was an affiliate of Botswana Business and the two collaborated on business issues.
He said their main objective was to advocate for youth business development.
He said the organisation supported established and growing youth-owned businesses by connecting them to the right people and through a range of business services and events.
He noted that they were also involved with leadership and economic development.
Further, Mr Kanokang explained that they attracted and retained members and provided unique networking opportunities for their members and develop solutions to challenges facing youth-owned businesses.
He said members of the SYBC enjoyed individual and collective approaches to advisers and decision makers in procurement and policy issues.
He said members also got the opportunity to connect with peers to exchange information, best practices and come up with new ideas on various industrial sectors.
He said their mission was to create competitive advantage for youth-owned businesses by advocating for pro-business policies, to deliver innovative programmes and to create a positive and an enabling environment for youth-owned businesses and for economic growth.
Mr Kanokang also noted that SYBC promoted members’ participation in trade fairs and exhibitions to help them establish contacts with potential buyers and sellers or investors. ENDS
