22 Nov 2017
Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi has told Parliament that the ministry has no budget provision to assist residents of Gaborone North farms with potable water as they previously responded in Parliament in 2016.
Responding to a question in Parliament, Mr Moipisi said the ministry held a consultative meeting with the area Member of Parliament on September 19, where the ministry explained the same answer to him.
He, however said the MP was aware that some assistance had been provided to Gaborone North residents in the form of a strategic stand pipe that was managed by Gaborone North community adding that it was therefore anticipated that they would take advantage of that and connect accordingly as some residents did.
On the other hand, he said he could not provide details of the project implementation schedule.
MP for Gaborone North, Mr Haskins Nkaigwa had asked the minister if there were plans to assist residents of Gaborone North Farms with portable water and if so, how much was budgeted for the process and when would the project be undertaken. ENDS
