Staff turnover 39 between 2012 to 2017

Ministry of International Affairs and Cooperation, which is tasked with the responsibility of promoting Botswana’s interest abroad, consist of a small staff compliment.
Answering a question on behalf of Minister Pelonomi Venson-Moitoi, Minister of Tertiary Education, Research, Science and Technology recently, Mr Alfred Madigele explained that the staff compliment consisted of staff at headquarters in Gaborone as well as those deployed at the 22 missions abroad.
He noted that those deployed at the missions provided auxiliary support services.
The minister further explained that the total staff turnover for the last five years was 39 between 2012 to 2017 financial years while the total cost of staff turnover for the above financial year was over P3 million.
Mr Madigele further explained that the ministry staff turnover at strategic level between 2012/2013 and 2016/2017 was seven while at middle management level for the same year was nine, with an operational level of 23 for the same period.
He said the cost of staff turnover at these various levels for the above-mentioned years was P1 million for Strategic level, P989 454, 34 middle management and over P1.6 million for operational level.
The MP for Ghanzi North, Mr Noah Salakae had asked the minister to explain the ministry’s staff turnover for the financial years 2012/13, 2013/14, 2014/15, 2015/16 and 2016/17.
The legislator had also wanted the minister to state the cost of staff turnover for the above financial years and the ministry’s staff turnover at strategic management, middle management and operational positions for the same financial years. ENDS
