BoFiNet Southern zone softball league launches

Botswana Softball Association in partnership with BoFiNet, have launched BoFiNet Southern zone league in Lobatse on November 18.
In an interview, BSA President, Tirelo Mukokomane said Lobatse was an opportune place for southern zone to host the games.
He said the place also had decent fields for softball and was hopeful that they would start fielding more games in Lobatse like in the old days.
Mukokomane indicated that they expected a competitive league season, especially in the ladies teams.
He said the start of the games showed that teams were prepared for the league, adding that some teams had also been participating in some tournaments.
For a while now the softball Zone VI games had stalled, with teams having had a fall-off as a result of financial constraints.
However, he said in terms of resuscitating the championships, they had mapped a way forward after having meetings to discuss the future of softball games within the zone.
He said South Africa would host Africa qualifying games in February next year.
For his part, Councillor Bruno Masisi said as Lobatse Town Council, they acknowledged BSA and BoFiNet efforts.
Maisi said both the association and BoFiNet had over the the years continued to develop softball in the country. ENDS
