Gilport Lions brought the game to Francistown, which appears to be their second alternative home lately and they appeared to be a more intent side, but were let down by poor finishing by their strikers in the mould of Kabo Rasuping and Poloko Nkalolang.
The Mandivenga Paradzayi coached-side huffed and puffed throughout the game and could not even utilise mouthwatering chances, failing to beat Chiefs goalkeeper, Neo Kenalemang.
Its chairman, Kelisitse Gilika was seen angry in the stands at some of the misses by his charges captained by veteran midfielder Jackie Mothatego.
On the other hand, Chiefs, which fielded a youthful side minus its more senior players also could not utilize the bulky left-footed striker Khumoetsile Kufigwa.
The well-built striker kept Lions defence on its toes, but was let down by poor finishing by the likes of Thato Ogopotse and Botshelo Lorato.
He managed to shield the ball well for these two strikers, laying great balls for them to shoot, but could not beat Gilport goalkeeper Moatlhodi Ndana.
Lions supporters in the second half tried to boost their players in song, but they could not just hit the right cord that would inspire the youthful side.
Coach Innocent Morapedi, assisted by former player Pontsho ‘Piro’ Moloi could not have the right combination that could penetrate Gilport defence and their supporters were a disappointed bunch at the end of the game.
