Govt addresses water situation

The Assistant Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation, Mr Itumeleng Moipisi said water scarcity in Molepolole is being addressed in different avenues.

Responding to a question in parliament, Mr Moipisi said this included addressing water loses due to dilapidated infrastructure in the village to be completed by December 2017.

He said at the moment, the situation was addressed through rationalisation of water between different wards.

The Assistant Minister further said his ministry planed to equip six boreholes at Malwelwe Wellfield to facilitate conjunctive use from wellfields and the North South Carrier (NSC).

He said the construction of NSC pipeline was anticipated to be completed in 2020 and the village will be connected then.

Molepolole South MP, Dr Tlamelo Mmatli had asked the assistant minister to state plans in place to address water scarcity in the village, whilst awaiting connection to NSC pipeline.

He further asked when the village would be connected to the pipeline.
