Media survey helps grow strengthen media sector

13 Nov 2017

Lilac media survey is Botswana’s first and nationwide survey independently conducted through Hotwire Group that aims to gather details of how Batswana perceive and consume the nation’s media as voted by the public within a set period of time.

Speaking during a media briefing, Hotwire Group managing director, Mr Kabelo Binns said the survey focuses on perceptions on radio and print media and aims to provide feedback to media houses, insight to advertisers, improve the value and experience of all because both print and radio do not usually get response from their readers.

This year’s survey, he said, was conducted electronically and physically, gathering insights from a broad spectrum of Batswana regardless of background or location. The survey will end on December 17.

Thereafter, he said a team of academics and industry experts would analyse the results and would be ready for release during the first quarter of 2018.

“The survey works to uncover what the local public actually feel and think about the media on which they depend to get information on a daily basis, be it for business, sport, lifestyle or general content,” he said.

The survey speaks to how Batswana perceive and consume data from our various media houses and media platforms, empowering the media section, the creative and communications sector to grow,” he said. BOPA
