BFA kick starts women league

13 Nov 2017

Botswana Football Association (BFA) kick started the women football league in the different regions on Saturday after it was suspended for a season.

In the Kweneng region, a game between Makufa and Divine Brains was a highlight of display of skill with the experienced Makufa who once played in the super league winning 4-1.

During the game played in Mogoditshane, Makufa came determined to teach Divine Brains some football lessons. At the blow of the first whistle, they launched a series of attacks  which however were easily dealt with by Divine keeper Kgakgamatso Lekatsana.

Makufa continued with their attacks searching for an early goal to unsettle their opponent.

Despite Makufa attacking Divine in the first minutes of the game, one would have thought they would wake up from their slumber and at least pack their defence. However that was not to be the case as Divine gave Makufa more room to manuever.

On the 20th minute, Raleteba rectified her earlier mistakes of missing a golden opportunity making the score 1-0.

The goal seemed to have shaken Divine as they started to compact their midfield and played as a unit looking for an equaliser. Little did they realise this was a tactical move by Makufa to reduce the speed of the game as they had started the game in a high tempo, obviously realising that fatigue was beginning to take its toll on them.

When Divine was still enjoying ball possession with the hope that everything was under control, Gaotlhobogwe quashed their hopes making the score 2-0, six minutes before break.

On the 41st minute, Makufa failed to defend a simple ball in the goal mouth, and Divine managed to utilise that opportunity to make it 2-1through Nonofo Lekong

After the break, the status quo remained and Makufa continued to dictate terms although Divine tried hard to retaliate but it was evident that their opponents had raised the game to another level.

In the 66th minute, Makufa was awarded a penalty and Kenalemang Chakawa managed to put it at the back of the net to make it 3-1.

Makufa then sealed their victory on the 84th through Omogolo Kekganetswe to make it 4-1. In another game, Sikalesele Football Club beat Mvela FC 5-2 in a game played in Thamaga. Ends
