Plans are underway to establish a data base that will be inclusive of clients with rehabilitation needs for programmatic interventions in the coming financial year, Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele has said.
Responding to a question in Parliament from Molepolole South MP, Dr Tlamelo Mmatli recently, Mr Makgalemele said the Ministry of Health and Wellness did not have data for people with physical disabilities in Molepolole.
“However, through our annual rehabilitation assessment, I am aware of the number of people who are in need of wheelchairs.
From 2014 to date, 111 clients who expressed the need for wheelchairs were identified in Molepolole,” he said.
Of the 111 clients, assistant minister said 80 had been supplied with wheelchairs, while 31 clients were still on the waiting list.
“Plans are on to procure more wheel chairs in the next financial year and these will then be considered for allocation,” he said.
Dr Mmatli had asked Mr Makgalemele to state the number of people with physical disability in Molepolole, who had expressed the need for wheelchairs, who had been supplied with wheelchairs from 2014 to date and those on the waiting list for wheelchairs. ENDS
