09 Nov 2017
About 40 students of Ritsumeikan Keisho High school from Japan recently visited Maun Senior Secondary School on a cultural exchange programme in areas of traditional dances, songs and sport, among others.
North West Regional Education director, Mr Galesenngwe Mohube encouraged Maun Senior Secondary School and Ritsumeikan Keisho High school from Japan to use the cultural exchange between them positively.
Mr Mohube said the platform would give the visiting students an opportunity to appreciate the Botswana education environment and the local students would in return also appreciate Japanese culture.
Mr Mohube also noted that Maun Senior School was a school with a rich history, which dates back to 1970, making it an old school that has produced public figures such as the former ambassador to Japan, Mr Jacob Nkate.
Mr Mohube also observed that Maun was well known for its link to the famous Okavango Delta, which the Japanese students were visiting as one of their appreciation journeys within Botswana.
Ritsumeikan Keisho High school student representative, Iroha Maeda said they had so far appreciated the beautiful scenery of Botswana and expressed hope that their five-day stay would create memorable moments. ENDS
