Staff welfare priority - official

09 Nov 2017

Chief Land Tribunal president, Ms Sampa Kaisara says a healthy workforce translates into a productive workplace, which will produce good results and ultimately offer an improved service to customers.

Speaking at the Land Tribunal combined men and women sector workshop recently, Ms Kaisara said anything that is related to staff welfare should be taken as first priority above anything else as disgruntled members of staff would not be able to achieve their intended goals at work and would not produce good results.

Ms Kaisara said the workshop was in recognition the importance of staff as a component of any organisation.

She urged staff members to suggest better ways of handling their welfare so that organisations continue to improve in that area.

Giving a motivational talk, Pastor Kebawetse Montshiwa, who is also principal administration officer in the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resource Conservation and Tourism, advised staff members to never give up on their dreams despite the challenges they may be facing.

She advised them to develop patience and tolerance of working with other people peacefully at the workplace to avoid unnecessary conflicts.

“Meditate on the good things and positive things will follow you. Do not be controlled by the circumstances surrounding you, rather focus on your dreams and strive to achieve them,” she said.

For her part, Ms Botshelo Madeluka from the Sexual Transmitted Infections (STIs) clinic expressed concern over the high rate of sexual infections that are prevalent among youth between the ages of 15 and 40.

She pleaded with parents to teach their children about sexual matters and encourage them to always engage in protected sexual activities to prevent contacting infections. ENDS
