All stakeholders must collaborate with government if the country is to succeed in nurturing future leaders and professionals needed in contributing to the national economy.
BAC executive director, Ms Serthy Leburu said this during the Sebele I Primary School prize giving ceremony and adopt a school signing ceremony recently.
She added that government needed all stakeholders to assist in skilling future doctors, accountants, engineers and entrepreneurs.
She said this was the reason why her college decided not only to partner with Sebele 1 primary, but also to adopt the school.
She said the adoption followed government’s campaign for the industry and the private sector to collaborate in developing the education sector through the improvement of facilities, teaching methods and good learning experience which includes imparting knowledge and skills to pupils from an early age.
Ms Leburu said through the MoU the college commits to sponsor some pupils related activities such as prize giving ceremony and continuously assess progress on the implemented activities until completion, assist with learning materials to improve pupil learning environment and experience.
“Others will include providing mentorship and coaching for leaners and teachers through seminars and workshops and partner with the school on community engagement activities and teach learners responsible learning. We believe the partnership will go a long way in growing the quality that Sebele I is known of today,” she said.
She commended teachers for committing their free time to volunteer to teach learners over the weekend without expecting rewards of overtime. She implored others to do the same for the success of the education sector.
For his part, Kweneng regional director, Mr Benson Rauwe emphasised the need for all stakeholders such as VDCs, tribal leadership, parents and school management to play their part for the successes of the school and help build a strong learner who could be globally competitive.
He noted that only seven pupils were graded D, saying the situation could always be improved.
“So let’s all collaborate and participate in learners’ education and build future leaders who can take the country to new heights, and being able to compete international,” he said.
He praised Sebele I teachers and staff for their committed efforts which should be a model to other teachers around the country because they donated their free time over the weekend to impart knowledge, life skills and encouraging learners to go for their extra-curricular activities. The accountancy college, which has been partnering with the school for a year now, also signed an MoU with Sebele I under the adopt a school initiative to assist the school and it’s pupils to continue to live the values of excellence which the school has come to be known for over the years.
They sponsored this year’s prize giving to the tune of P20 000. ENDS
