Gunners rhythm back
02 Nov 2017
Extension Gunners FC put their 2017/18 BTC Premiership campaign on gear when they beat visiting Sankoyo Bush Bucks 3-1 during an entertaining match played at the New Lobatse Sports Complex on Wednesday night.
Gunners winger Mmoloki Kebalepile started the on-slaught on visitors with a header on the 13th minute to end the dry spell they have been experiencing since the season started.
Francis Olaki extended the lead on the 27th minute after a deadly exchange with feared striker Kenanao ‘Flo’ Kgetholetsile and Ofentse Mmipi. Kgetholetsile had plucked the ball from the air and put it on Olaki’s path to seal the first half with two goals for Gunners. Olaki scored a similar goal against Orapa United last Saturday.
Before Olaki came along this season, Kgetholetsile who was usually used as a lone striker would tussle and win balls especially from the air but would lack support to convert them into goals.
After recess, Bush Bucks caught Gunners on a weak moment and scored through striker Boemo Lekorwe.
He had stormed out of two Gunners defence to score for the visitors who had cold feet in the first half.
Bush Bucks only found their feet after the substitution of Kudzanani Machazani who had contained them in the middle first half. But their joy was short-lived when Ofentse Mmipi drove the final nail into their coffin halfway through the second half.
Bush Bucks displayed individual brilliance through Mojadi Maripe, Morris Ruzivo and Onkgolotse Motlhabankwe and Gosaitse Manuel.
However the life they had injected into the match was not enough to tip the scales their way.
Gunners’ youngsters Michael Tinye and Emmanuel Sekwena asserted themselves after a quiet game against Orapa United last weekend.
Meanwhile Bush Bucks coach Gadimang Tiiso was unhappy that his boys did not utilise their chances but allowed opponents to score easy goals.
Gunners coach Tumie Duicker, on the other hand was happy that his boys scored five goals in two games which he described as the end of a dry spell. BOPA
