Botswana Football Association (BFA) is pinning its hopes on the German expert who is in the country to help shape the path of football locally.

Christopher Rocholl who is here for a month is expected to do a visibility study in the whole country and at the end come up with a report which would include recommendations.

BFA chief executive officer, Mfolo Mfolo explained in an interview that they were optimistic that the expert would do a great job adding that his report would assist the association on which path the football fraternity could take in order to grow.

He said the study would focus on four aspects being; grass root, youth development, coach education as well as monitoring and evaluation.

He said at the end of the study, the idea was to see another expert from Germany to come and address the recommendations for a period of three years adding that the said expert was expected to have three locals as his under study.

The reason why the recommendations had to be implemented for three years, he said was to ensure continuity on the aspects addressed.

“The expert is expected to interact with coaches, administrations, Botswana Integration Sports Association (BISA), BOPPSA officials and BFA partners to appreciate their challenges and how they do things. He would also have an opportunity to tour infrastructure and also watch some games to appreciate the play and the coaching skills,” he added.

Mfolo said the have four blocks namely, North, South, East and West stating that the visibility study would be conducted firstly in Maun which was in the northern.

Asked why they came up with the initiative, he explained that there was no how they could develop football without considering the young people.

He said the initiative was born after BFA president requested assistance from FIFA on strategies of youth development and they were advised to engage Botswana National Olympic Commission. BOPA
