Kgathi hails magistrate court

Minister of Defence, Justice and Security has commended Bobonong magistrate court employees for making health and wellness a priority.

Speaking at the health and wellness day commemoration organised by the court employees on October 28, Mr Shaw Kgathi said health and wellness must be made a priority in the workplace.

The courts he said held criminal and civil cases hence a sober and healthy mind when applying law to offer a fair judgment was a must.

He said government promoted health and wellness in the workplace the reason why some days were devoted towards raising awareness and encouraging exercising to promote wellbeing.

Mr Kgathi said there were concerns of reduced productivity levels within the civil service saying some were a result of not being healthy.

Wellness he said was not limited to body exercise only but involved healthy eating, proper sitting posture, enough sleep and observing times to have meals.

Mr Kgathi also encouraged women to take wellness seriously stating that exercise beautified their bodies and reduced the amount of money spent on cosmetics aimed at beautifying face and skin.

Further he explained that wellness reduced among others cardiovascular diseases thereby advising workers to reduce high salt and sugar intake.

For her part principal magistrate Ms Goratile Moremi- Ramakoloi said Bobonong magistrate court has made health and wellness a priority within the workplace and promotional of individual fitness.

Ms Moremi-Ramakoloi said every industry nowadays has made a commitment to live a healthy lifestyle as well as demonstrate a spirit of giving towards the less privileged members of the society.

She said the employees have also been donating to the less privileged which she described as part and parcel of health and wellness.

Another magistrate Ms Vinga Kedikilwe said this year they targeted two beneficiaries one of them being Ms Dikeledi Njeki.

She said employees donated to her children school uniforms after her house was gutted by fire. Ms Jane Mabayi was also given clothes.

Court interpreter Mr Ice Moatshe applauded residents for attending their event saying people in many instances associate the court with passing judgement and sentencing them to jail, stating that many services could be obtained at the courts. ENDS
