Royals honour elderly

Elderly people should be cared for given the role they played in the development of the country especially its societal values and customs, Kgosi Puso of Batlokwa has said.
Speaking at the lunch for the elderly, Kgosi Puso said the event which was in its second year running, recognised the role played by the elderly in the development of the nation and in raising children into responsible individuals.
He implored them to continue to be part of developmental process if the country was to reach new heights.
He said as the coming generation they would never forsake the old because they continued to be a source of knowledge to learn from while they would forever tap into their guidance which has seen the country develop into its current form and becoming the envy of other nations.
Mohumagadi Thandi Gaborone encouraged Batlokwa women to work together and play their societal role of moulding girl children into responsible people.
He called on women to play their role in supporting kgotla activities.
She said the presence of the elderly was a sign that the tribe was still rich in culture and united thereby calling on the elderly women to continue guiding the young generation to become a model of their tribe.
Another speaker Mr Caxton Motlhabai commended Batlokwa Kgosi and wife for the compassion towards the elderly tribesmen which he said was God inspired and in line with Bible teachings.
He called on Batlokwa to unite and speak with one voice for their interests if they were to become a model for other tribes.
In closing, Tlokweng MP, Mr Kenneth Segokgo encouraged Batlokwa to rally behind the royal family as they strive to revive the tradition and cultural values geared towards building a responsible tribe and a responsible society.
He encouraged all to embrace cultural norms and values, and help keep the identity of Setlokwa which has kept them together and distinct. ENDS
