Ngami DHMT sensitises residents on health issues
24 Oct 2017
Residents of Sexaxa have been challenged to take responsibility for their health and guard against non-communicable diseases.
Speaking at a wellness day organised by Ngami District Health Management Team (DHMT) at Sexaxa recently, Dr Habanyama Kenneth of Global Mission Clinic advised Sexaxa community to take health issues seriously.
He noted that the emphasis of the day was on non-communicable diseases, which continue to take lives although they could be prevented and dealt with at home or through the right medical procedures.
Dr Kenneth also advised residents to make use of treated mosquito nets availed at health facilities to prevent Malaria.
He urged residents to know their HIV status and to always practice safe sex.
For his part, the area councillor Mr Bathoni Poloko appreciated the Ngami DHMT for sensitising the residents on health matters.
Mr Poloko also advised Sexaxa residents to guard against use of drugs and their consequences to the immune system and the community.
One resident, Ms Galalea Moshanjo complained about high consumption of alcohol in the area, which has resulted in some patients defaulting from taking their prescriptions.
Ms Moshanjo also pleaded with the health sector to help eradicate Malaria, which was prevalent in the area since it was in the vicinity of Thamalakane River.
She therefore encouraged her community to take medical instructions seriously. ENDS
