Stanbic bank sponsors awards

15 Oct 2017

Stanbic Bank Botswana has joined the ViB Good Radio awards by sponsoring the Best News Reader category with a whooping P15 000.

Speaking at a media interaction in Gaborone, the award’s founder, Jazzelle Kebakile said the category is now known as the Stanbic Bank Best News Reader.

“Hopefully more sponsors will come on board to sponsor the other categories and help us recognise the best of the best in radio,” she said.

She said the awards would be held at Masa Square Hotel rooftop on October 28.

“The awards are an opportunity for the general public, corporate world, government and media to applaud, reward and celebrate outstanding performers in the country’s radio broadcasting fraternity,” she said.

Jazzelle said the awards are aimed at seeing the radio industry players congregate for a common cause.

Radio personnel are set to be honoured in five categories which are; Best Presenter, Best Radio Show, Best Radio Station, Stanbic Bank Best News Reader and Lifetime Achievement award.

She noted that Tshepi S of Yarona Fm and legendary radio personality Losika Seboni aka Luzboy would be directing proceedings on the night.

Voting lines were officially opened to the public at mid-day on June 23 and would stay open until just before the event on October 28.

“This is literally a dream come true for me to have given birth to this idea.

I know that this is a dream I share with many in Botswana who concern themselves with the industry’s sustainability and recognition of its talent,” said Jazzelle, who used to thrill radio lovers on Gabz Fm.

She said the public can vote through short message service for their favourite personalities and a panel of judges would also in addition adjudicate to determine the winner in each category.

A press release stated that The Good Radio Awards is the signature event for the Confidence Office and forms part of the Good Radio Project.

It further stated that the Good Radio Project aims to celebrate the best radio personalities, share what constitutes excellent radio practices, encourage innovation amongst the youth through competition and show Batswana what it takes to create a radio show.ENDS
