Mukokomani ascends top position

Botswana Softball Association president Tirelo ‘Scania’ Mukokomani has been elected the vice president At Large in the Softball division board of directors.
Mukokomani, the first Motswana to ascend to the top softball position in the world was elected during the World Baseball/Softball Confederation second congress held in Gaborone last week.
The three positions of vice president At Large went to Takelo Utsigi of Japan, Maria Soto Gil of Venezuela and Mukokomani of Botswana.
Mukokomani said in an interview that his victory gave impetus to his commitment to the game of softball in Botswana.
He said Botswana had invested in softball for the past 40 years and therefore it would be inappropriate for the country to remain on the side lines without making decisions at the higher bodies of softball.
Also during the elections, Tommy Velazquez of Puerto Rico was elected chairperson, first vice president position went to Beng Choo Low of Malaysia while Craig Cress of US was elected second vice president.
Mashilo Matsetela of South Africa was elected vice president Africa, vice president Americas position went to Antonio Morales of Colombia, Hiromi Tokudas of Japan was elected vice president Asia, and Gaba Waage of Czech Republic was elected vice president Europe.
Vice president Oceania went to Rex Capil of New Zealand. Colombia’s Javier Anaya was elected as the treasurer, while Nathan Nukunuku of New Zealand will seat in the board as the athletes’ representative (softball). Ends
