Masisi applauds Ralekgetho residents

Vice President, Mr Mokgweetsi Masisi has commended residents of Ralekgetho for reviving the spirit of togetherness.
Addressing a kgotla meeting at Ralekgetho in his Moshupa/Manyana constituency on October 11, Mr Masisi praised the residents for striving for team work with public servants stationed at the village for the benefit of development.
He said government was committed to safeguarding the future of Botswana by supporting projects initiatives that would enhance the quality of life for future generations.
Mr Masisi informed residents that government remained committed to addressing unemployment and poverty in the country. He appealed to youth to utilise youth programmes, adding that government had put the lives and dignity of Batswana top on the agenda.
He said programmes could play an important role in promoting the economic sector by creating job opportunities as well as growing the economy.
He stated that the support for programmes such as Poverty Eradication were available to assist Batswana graduate from poverty and create employment for other citizens.
Further, he explained that government supported initiatives geared towards reviving cultural activities. The Vice President encouraged the residents to expand their projects and sell their products locally. He said government was eager to support them in this regard.
However, Mr Masisi was concerned that most of Batswana still bought clothes and other goods in other countries instead of locally.
For their part, residents of Ralekgetho praised Mr Masisi for developing their village ever since he became their Member of Parliament.
They commended their MP for coming up with programmes that lifted their standard of living. Residents danced and ululated after he told them that he would soon become the President.
Chairperson of Ralekgetho Village Development Committee, Mr Motlhatlosi Ntesang said most of the residents had benefited from various government programmes intended to uplift their lives.
He indicated that programmes such as ISPAAD and Poverty Eradication had assisted them a lot, requesting that ISPAAD be maintained.
Mr Ntesang said their village was growing at an alarming rate even though Moshupa/Ralekgetho road was bad and there was acute shortage of water in the village.
They said various departments visited them regularly to educate them about government programmes.
The Vice President was accompanied by directors of China Zeazung Company, who informed the residents that they were going to adopt Ralekgetho Primary School.
Meanwhile, Mr Masisi donated blankets, footballs, sweets and ice pops to the residents. ENDS
