03 Jul 2013

Ngwaketse West MP, Mr Mephato Reatile has raised a concern over Mokhomma Primary School’s poor examination results.

Addressing a kgotla meeting at Mokhomma recently, Mr Reatile called on the region’s educational office to address the challenges faced by the school. Mr Reatile advised the education officers and teachers to bring in the parents to find the way forward in improving the schools performance.

He urged officers to fill up the vacant posts in the school to address the challenge of shortage of teachers and also lessen the work load on other teachers who were forced to teach combined classes. The MP also encouraged residents to rent out houses to government to accommodate public officers.

The chairperson of the Village Development Committee, Ms Keneetswe Ramokgwane lamented that Mokhomma Primary School pass rate stood at 23 per cent in the 2012 PSLE results.

Ms Ramokgwane complained of shortage of teachers and the unreliable supply of food at the school. The school’s head teacher, Ms Magdalene Mackenzie informed the meeting that she had notified the education office about the shortage of teachers.ENDS
