Gamajaalela cluster police get pat on back
27 Sep 2017
Director of Envirokings has yesterday applauded Gamajaalela cluster police for going an extra mile to develop their village.
Dr Edwin Dikoloti said when officiating during a ground breaking ceremony of Mmamatlhoakgoro recreational park in Gamajaalela.
He said he was impressed that the cluster was working hard to combat crime in the village.
Dr Dikoloti noted that the cluster, through the project, had also mobilised the community, something he described as critical to development.
Gamajaalela cluster advisor, Mr Selelo Ngakane revealed that they had so far carried out several initiatives to fight crime in the village since 2016.
Mr Ngakane said the park would give the village a facelift, lure tourists to the area and potentially create job opportunities for many a resident.
Mr Ngakane is also optimistic that the project would engage youth at every stage of construction and keep them away from delinquent activities, adding they have only just completed the fencing component.
Mr Ngakanez thanked individuals, organisations and companies which have contributed towards the project thus far.
He further explained that the project would encourage residents to conserve natural resources that could attract tourist to the area.
Mr Ngakane said it was important for communities to come up with self-help initiatives rather than waiting for someone from outside to assist, adding that help usually came to those who helped themselves.
He said the initiative would have a meaningful impact on the socio-economic development of the village and beyond.
Meanwhile, Pinnacle Geomatics land surveyor, Mr Jakoba Kgopolelo advised the community to survey the plot, apply for a title deed and protect it from criminals.
As a way of giving back to the community, Mr Kgopolelo said he would survey the plot for free.
He also advised residents to also survey their plots and protect them with title deeds. BOPA
