Entrepreneur encourages graduates

26 Sep 2017

Security Systems founder, Mr Gabriel Nkgetse has encouraged graduates of Ignite Your Spark to use their passion to create employment.

Mr Nkgetse who made the remarks at the graduation ceremony on September 23 in Maun said Botswana still had a chance for many business opportunities.

He therefore encouraged the graduates to make use of the Ignite Your Spark, a personal development programme, which challenges the participants to introspect and find their potential to develop and weaknesses to abandon.

Mr Nkgetse said the programme was crucial to entrepreneurs, noting that he founded the security company with no adequate academic background and only managed through trial and errors.

He observed that such a personal development programme was an empowerment tool which the individuals can use to develop their career paths.

Mr Nkgetse said Botswana needed people with a desire to create employment who can in turn hire others.

He noted that Security Systems which was formed at a time when people had no faith in the security service currently prided itself with about 4500 employees.

He said when it was founded there were only about three security companies in the country which have increased to about 5000 companies currently.

Mr Nkgetse therefore encouraged the graduates not to fear competition when pursuing their business aspirations.

A 2016 graduate Ms Kelebogile Disang also encouraged the graduates to use the programme as a stepping stone to achieving their aspirations in any aspect of life.

Ms Disang noted that personal development was a life journey as it helps one to realise their strengths and to overcome their weaknesses.

Guest speaker, Ms Edith Adjei advised the graduates to use the programme to introspect and realise their god given talent.

Ms Adjei, who is also an entrepreneur, said success relied on decisions taken and therefore encouraged the graduates to bring change and create employment.

A graduate, Mr Atarelang Sebele appreciated the personal development programme for reawakening his abandoned art talent.

Mr Sebele who is based in Francistown said his art talent was abandoned due to lack of support and lack of motivation since he was made to believe art was a waste of time when he was still a student.

He however said the personal development programme has revived him and he was in a journey of becoming a professional artist and had a dream to put in place an art centre.

The Ignite your Spark personal development programme is the brainchild of Maun entrepreneur Ms Hanna Lecha who is also a life coach.

About 26 men and women from areas such as Maun, Francistown and Gaborone graduated from the programme. ENDS
