Club promotes healthy living

03 Jul 2013

Bobonong Aerobics Club official has urged health workers in Bobonong Primary Hospital to lead by example by joining their club, which encourages fitness.

Speaking in an interview during the session held at Matshekge Senior School in Bobonong, Chedza Andries said the club, set up by health workers at the facility in 2008, aimed to promote healthy living within the institution.

She expressed concern that some workers were not willing to join the club and she pleaded with them to be part of the club. However she acknowledged the overwhelming support the club was getting from the hospital management. The club’s membership, she said, was currently free and even extended to members of the community in the area with sessions held every day after working hours.

Andries further pointed out that the club was female-dominated and urged men to follow suit because aerobics sport helped in body and mental wellness. “The sport is important in preventing and controlling cardio vascular diseases such as stroke, hypertension, diabetics, obesity as well as a form of entertainment that brings people together,” she said.

She thanked Eastern Military Garrison Selebi Phikwe for assisting the club with training expertise. Other clubs that participated during a three-hour session are Francistown, Mmadinare, Serowe, Orapa Aerobics Clubs and Fitness Club Selibe Phikwe. ENDS
