Comply with birth registration - Moswaane

Francistown West Member of Parliament, Mr Ignatius Moswaane has implored residents of Phase 6 to comply with birth registration requirements.
Addressing a kgotla meeting on September 21, Mr Moswaane encouraged the residents to include their fathers’ names in the birth certificates as required.
He said the requirement was not aimed at exposing anybody but it was an international requirement that benefit children especially when one of the parents dies and required to process other documents such as Omang.
In his briefing, Phase 6 Ward Development Committee (WDC) chairperson, Mr Otto Masogo thanked government for the Ipelegeng programme saying although some people might feel the remuneration was too little, beneficiaries could put food on the table.
Mr Masogo noted that the ward was fortunate to benefit from Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP) but classrooms that were built through the programme were already cracking.
A resident, Mr Tingayi Majeremane raised a concern about crime in Phase 5 adding that lack of street lights contributed to the escalating crime adding that some criminals use the cemetery as their hiding place and called on the relevant authorities to fence and lock the cemetery.
Mr Nene Gongwa informed the meeting about the ward’s Under 13 team and pleaded with the parents to avail their children.
Another resident, Mr Simon Tseladikae said government seemed to be neglecting men and focusing on women and the youth only.
Mr Tseladikae complained about some motorists who dispose used condoms at the parking lot near Ntshe clinic at night.
He also complained that of recent they spent days without water and as a result their health was compromised as they use waterborne toilets.
In response, the MP said he will take up the issue of the cemetery with the relevant authorities.
He explained that men could partner with women and ask for assistance from the Department of Gender Affairs.
Mr Moswaane called on the residents to report motorists who use the parking lot for illegal activities so that they could be charged for public nuisance.
The area councillor, Mr Godfrey Kaelo explained that the water shortage was a result of a pipe burst and since it was an emergency situation Water Utilities Corporation did not have time to inform the residents. ENDS
