No change on liquor trading hours

Trading hours for liquor will remain as stipulated in the Second Schedule and Regulation 8 (2) of the Liquor Regulations, 2008 during the Independence Holidays (Saturday September 30 and Monday October 2).
A press release from the Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry states that bar liquor licence authorises the sale and consumption of liquor on the licensed premises between 2pm and 10pm from Monday to Thursday, 12 noon to 12pm on Friday and Saturday and 3pm to 10pm on Sundays and public holidays.
A bottle store licence authorises the sale of liquor to members of the public for consumption off the premises between 10am and 7pm on Monday to Saturday.
On Sundays and public holidays no bottle store shall be open, states the release.
It further states that a wholesale liquor and distributor liquor licences authorise the sale of liquor for consumption off the premises between 8am and 5pm on Monday to Saturday and on Sundays and public holidays no wholesale liquor and distributor liquor shall be open.
According to the release, discotheque/night club licence authorises the sale and consumption of liquor on licensed premises between 7pm and 12 midnight from Monday to Thursday, 7pm and 2am on Fridays and Saturdays, 3pm to 10pm on Sundays and public holidays.
The release states that a club liquor licence authorises the sale and consumption of liquor on the licensed premises between 2pm and 10pm from Monday to Thursday, 12 noon and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, 3pm to 10pm on Sundays and public holidays.
A liquor depot licence authorises the sale and consumption of traditional beer on the licensed premises between 2pm and 10pm from Monday to Thursday, 12 noon and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays and 3pm to 10pm on Sundays and Public Holidays.
No liquor shall be served in restaurants except between 12 noon and 230pm and between 630pm and 1030pm on a daily basis and licensees are also reminded that intoxicating liquor should be served only to bona-fide diners in the restaurants and for consumption on the premises.
It states that a temporary liquor licence for festivals and other public activities authorises the sale of liquor between 2pm and 12 midenight on Mondays to Saturdays and a temporary liquor licence for a picnic authorises the sale of liquor between 1200 hours to 7pm on Mondays to Saturdays, adding that a temporary liquor licence for trade fairs authorises the sale of liquor between 12 noon to 6pm on Mondays to Saturdays.
Furthermore, the release states that traditional beer regulations of 2011 authorise sale of declared traditional beer between 2pm and 6pm from Monday to Thursday, 12 noon and 7pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and 3pm to 7pm on Sundays and public holidays.
All liquor business operators and/managers are therefore advised to observe and comply with the provisions of the Liquor Act and its regulations as stated above. ENDS
