CDC WHO to conduct survey
21 Sep 2017
The Ministry of Health and Wellness in collaboration with Statistics Botswana, Centre for Disease Control (CDC) and the World Health Organization (WHO) will conduct a mop up exercise for the national household survey called Global Adult Tobacco Survey (GATS) from September 22 to October 31, 2017.
A press release from the ministry states that the findings of the survey will be used to design and implement tobacco control programmes and to fulfill the country’s obligations under the WHO framework on Tobacco control.
The objectives of the survey are to produce national adult tobacco use estimates for both smoked and smokeless tobacco, systematically monitor adult tobacco use (smoking and smokeless) and track key tobacco control indicators.
It states that all field interviewers engaged by the Ministry of Health and Wellness to collect data for the survey will be wearing identification badges and other attire bearing their names as well as the emblems for the ministry and the Global Adult Survey project titled GTSS (Global Tobacco Surveillance System).
“All household visited are kindly requested to give all the field interviews the necessary support and access to your household as your help is extremely important to the success of this survey, states the release.” Ends
