Paledi resigns from police

Mr Victor Paledi has formally retired from the Botswana Police Service following his appointment as Director General of the Directorate on Corruption and Economic Crime (DCEC).
He has served in the Police Service for 23 years and before being appointed to the new position, he was deputy commissioner of police operations, a position he assumed in 2012.
Speaking at a dinner hosted in his honour at the Special Support Group premises in Gaborone, the Commssioner of Police, Mr Keabetswe Makgophe said the purpose of the event was meant to mark the end of Mr Paledi’s active involvement in policing.
He said the occasion was also intended to celebrate the dedication and commitment throughout his service as a police officer.
Mr Makgophe said that Mr Paledi had made great impact in the development of Botswana Police Service.
For his part, Mr Paledi thanked the Botswana Police Service for giving him an opportunity to serve the people of this country.
He urged police officers to continue working as one entity to fight crime.
Mr Paledi joined the police in 1994 as a Cadet Inspector and served in various positions until he was appointed deputy commissioner of Police in 2012.
During his service, Mr Paledi was awarded Police Medal for Meritorious Service in 2012 and Botswana Long Service and Good Conduct in 2013. ENDS
