Maele motivates Tswapong farmers

02 Jul 2013

Farmers in Tswapong North have been advised to continue rearing cattle and not be discouraged by the ongoing Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) investigations.

The Member of Parliament for Tswapong North, Mr Prince Maele said this when addressing constituents recently. Mr Maele said he was optimistic that the Botswana beef industry situation would normalise at the completion of the BMC investigations.

He informed the residents that Tswapong North constituency had been re-named Lerala-Maunatlala and would have eight polling districts in the coming general elections instead of the current nine. The MP said he was aware that the name did not go well with some residents, as they preferred Tswapong North which they said included all the villages in the constituency.

Mr Maele however said that there was nothing that the residents could do to change what had been decided by the Delimitation Committee, adding that changes could only be done in the next delimitation exercise. He appealed to the residents to take their children’s education seriously, adding that he was concerned about the performance of the schools in the region.

MP Maele congratulated the schools in Tswapong North, which improved their performance in the 2012 examination results. He awarded best performers awards for 2011 and 2012 examination results during his tour of the constituency.

The chairperson of Village Development Committee (VDCs) at Goo-Tau village, Mr Boswajwame Bakwena appealed to the government to help them recover rental arrears from civil servants. Mr Bakwena said they had approached the council for assistance but they were informed that VDC could not take an individual to court, while the small claims court assisted  individuals.

He however appealed to Mr Maele to assist them recover their monies. ENDS
