Residents of Tatitown in Francistown have complained to Assistant Minister of Health and Wellness, Mr Dikgang Makgalemele about shortage of nurses and doctors.
In his welcome remarks at a kgotla meeting addressed by the assistant minister, Kgosi Gaefiwe Kediseng of Tatitown applauded staff working at clinics for an excellent work, but said there was shortage of staff to execute services.
He said that prevented staff from giving the public the best service.
Kgosi Kediseng condemned patients who were on medication and took alcohol, encouraging them to take responsibility for their health. He also condemned parents who sold drugs to children, saying they were ruining their future.
In response, Mr Makgalemele said the ministry was trying to attract more doctors from overseas and turn the country into a health hub. He encouraged residents to invest more in their health by going for health screening and eating healthy.
Mr Makgalemele encouraged the youth to take advantage of the youth friendly clinic at Area W.
He urged residents to form a club in their ward that dealt with fighting HIV/AIDS. He said such a club would help reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS and other diseases.
Area MP, Mr Ignatius Moswaane condemned churches that encouraged residents to stop taking medication and believe that they could be healed by churches. He said that killed a lot of people and encouraged residents to stick to doctors’ advise. ENDS
