Cllrs worry about project delay

Kweneng District councillors have reiterated concerns over the fact that the district was being disadvantaged as far as developments are concerned.
Commenting during the Kweneng District Development Committee report presented by the Principal District Officer Development, Mr Kabelo Ntopo, cllrs expressed disappointment over constant delayed projects impacting on development growth in the district.
Cllrs among them Mothophi Leo, challenged the district leadership about the need to engage relevant authorities such as responsible ministries to address communities in the district and provide update on why Kweneng District was being disadvantaged.
Among issues constantly raised during different district forums were Molepolole Police Station planned for the year 2021 under the National Development Plan Eleven, Molepolole dual carriage way, sanitation project, Hatsalatladi/Lentsweletau road passing through Mahetlwe village as well as the need for councillors to get update about the introduction Electronic Voting Machine.
Hatsalatladi/Lentsweletau road, he said, was shelved from the district’s priority list of projects and responsible ministries never had the courtesy to update communities on failure to deliver promises.
The sentiments were echoed by Mahetlwe/Ditshukudu Cllr Simon Maroane stating that it was disheartening that promises were never fulfilled.
Cllr Maroane pleaded for Mahetlwe to benefit from the impending Molepolole by-pass under Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP). He said Mahetlwe with the distance of 14.2 kilometres radius should benefit through access road as per instruction during the launch of ESP.
Meanwhile, Mr Ntopo said that Hatsalatlhadi/Lentsweleau road was initially planned under council projects by the authority responsible for roads construction.
Letlhakeng South Cllr Opaletswe Mogolwane complained that despite the fact that there was a component of liability period during the Letlhakeng internal roads construction, the project was constantly developing defects without appropriate action taken by the relevant department.
Kweneng DDC report among others briefed the council about plans to declare Mogoditshane/Thamaga Sub-district.
The proposal, according to the report comes as a response to the Minster of Lands and Management, Water and Sanitation to declare districts planning areas, following council resolution through DDC to declare villages of Mogoditshane, Tloaneng, Gabane Mmopane, Mmokolodi, Metsimotlhabe and Thamaga that did not succeed pending compliance as per section 15 of DTRP Act of 2013.
The full council was further briefed about challenged in the delivery of diphaphata using wheelbarrow, thus compromising quality and hygiene. The decision reached, according to the report, was to have diphaphatha prepared at schools to ensure that hygienic standards were adhered to.
Other issues of concern was over quitting of hand stampers from primary schools for Ipelegeng programme complaining there was no difference in remuneration as the programme was labour intensive. ENDS
