Exercise reduces stress levels

Serowe Administration Authority (SAA) councillors have been advised cto exercise regularly as that reduces stress levels.
Presenting during a health and wellness session organised by SAA for councillors, RGH Health Studios operations manager, Mr Rasebolai Kgamane said consistent exercise was essential for a healthier skin and increased bone and mineral density that could help prevent osteoporosis.
He said exercise slowed the ageing process and increased energy.
“Exercise reduces the risk of certain types of cancer, diabetes, stroke and high blood pressure and also assists in controlling weight,” he said.
“Whether you want to put it on or lose it, exercise can help reduce body fat, which will in turn enhance your physical appearance,” he said.
Mr Kgamane further explained that exercise had the potential to increase lean muscle, adding that the more lean muscle an individual had, the faster their metabolism.
“This does not mean you have to build muscle.
Toning your muscles in order to have a well-defined figure means that you will be burning a lot more calories at rest than before,” he said.
In addition, he said exercising improves physical fitness thereby providing more stamina, and continued physical activities for longer periods.
“In turn this can improve sleeping patterns, provide more relaxation and sound mind,” Mr Kgamane explained.
He said once an individual was used to regular exercise, they would enjoy it and reduce stress level.
Mr Kgamane also took time to advice councilors on healthy eating saying certain foods could help shape the body.
“Eggs are jam packed with protein which the human body has to work hard to digest and also boost metabolism,” he stated.
Mogatsapoo ward councillor, Mr Bahithi Ratora commended Mr Kgamane for an informative presentation saying economic welfare, and inaccessible facilities hindered them from exercising.
“Most of us believe that eating too much is a way of expelling hunger and also a way of preserving food, which means that we are totally misinformed. ENDS
