LeBoSoShaLe Orphan Care back on track
21 Aug 2017
LeBoSoShaLe Orphan Care project came back to its feet on Friday, following a major setback that left the organisation crippled after its sponsors could no longer afford to fund it due to the economic meltdown that hit the entire nation in 2008.
On Friday, the organisation, which encompasses of a feeding centre and a day care for orphans from five villages mainly, Lephepe, Boatlaname, Sojwe, Shadishadi and Leologane was launched and a new board as well as new roadmap announced.
The organisation has also gone a step further to seek new sponsors in order to realise their goals. Sefalana Holdings Company was among the companies that extended a helping hand towards the organisation and donated food hampers to the centre and children.
Speaking at the launch, Kweneng deputy district commissioner Ms Ikgopoleng Lekoape said the organisation started feeding 400 kids and therefore the founder deserved to be applauded for her efforts since a woman is a nation builder.
She further said caring for children was such a huge step as they were automatically moulded to become better persons in the future. She urged all to contribute towards moulding the future of children for they are the leaders of tomorrow.
Presenting the food hampers, Sefalana Holding company board member, Mr Elias Dewah said when they received request from the organisation they decided right on the spot to help them.
He also pledged that should the organisation need food any time, their doors were open because Sefalana is a local company that has existed for a long time, therefore they feel obliged to plant back into the communities they have served for it is the communities that made them realize the growth they are currently enjoying in the retail industry.
He also emphasized that where issues of poverty were concerned, the company does not have to think twice as they had set aside funds to help where there was need.
The Tzucht Foundation has also donated about 100 bags of rice to the centre and to the elderly. Twenty students also received sanitary pads on the day.
The founder of the organisation, Ms Daisy Botsoba who hails from one of the villages, Sojwe, mentioned that she founded the organisation in 2006 after realising that the five villages were lacking essential amenities and that the level of poverty was appalling.
She then approached different companies to assist in running of the project but they quit along the way as they could not afford to assist with funding during the years of the economic recession that has also affected companies.
Chairman of LeBoSoShaLe Orphan Care organisation, Mr Nelson Sello said one of their aims was to not only care for the children but want to incooperate the value of education, environment and agribusiness as some of the pillars that will redefine the organisation going forward.
Also they want to mould a young person who can contribute to the development of their communities through various skills they will have acquired in the youth empowerment programme. ENDS
